It is so great to see everyone on here! Man - how time flies! I found a wonderful man, David Witt, and we have been married now for 7 years. I have two sons who have been both a blessing and a challenge to raise. David and I became empty nesters several months ago and are thoroughly enjoying that, but trust me, sometimes I think I spend more time on the phone with them now than I ever saw them when they lived at home! I have been at TVA for 27 years now as a computer systems analyst. I have such good memories from Central and it has been great to be back in touch with so many from our 30th reunion last year. Life is good!

Wendy Chyrisse Roy Cronon, Class of '77!

Glad to see familiar names on the Central blog! I have been happily married to Chuck Cronon (anybody know that guy??) for 8 years now, after a 20 year hiatus! Between us, we have 4 wonderful children, 2 beautiful grandchildren and 2 beautiful Siberian Huskys! I worked for 30 years at Unum Insurance Company, leaving the company a year ago to stay home and finally have time to tend my flower gardens! As the crow flies, we live about a mile from our alma mater! So we are frequently driving by and yelling "Go Pounders!" Mac, our youngest, will be a senior at Central this fall and is on the football team, so we are having a lot of fun with that. I am looking forward to our next reunion!!

Hi guys-so good to see you all on the blog-thanks to Donella! Have been married to Hugh Smith (class of '72) for 30 years. In 1984, our first blessing arrived-Shelley Marie and then in 1987, Emily Anne. Shelley is now an angel in heaven. Both our sweet girls were born with a disease called Batten disease (visit www.BDSRA.org). We feel very honored that we were chosen to care for these very special girls. Hugh is a TVA retiree and I am still employed (after being a stay-at-home mom while our girls were in school) with Stubbs Prosthetics & Orthotics. Am looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion!

Currently living in Chattanooga, 1980 joined the USAF and worked as a contingency planner in a readiness and logistics mobility unit, first duty station Hill AFB Utah, from there to Korea, Japan, and other regions outside the continental United States. The last duty station was Charleston AFB SC 1990 and where I have continued to live to this day.

Due to my background in the medical industry prior to the USAF, I was a drug rep for some years, then went into sales where I became the southeast regional sales manager for Primus Corp, selling chemistry analyzers to hospitals and large physicians offices covering the southeast, 11 states total.

Donis Cockrell ~ Class of 74

I was at Central High School in the early '70's, graduating in 1974 (that's Carol Satterfield, class of '73 with me in one of the HS pics). Music Ed was my major at MTSU (violin was my major instrument). I married Mark (we met in NC at a resort, where I was a strolling violinist and he was a singing waiter) in 1978 and we have two (both married) children. Our son, 28, is a professor at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta campus)and our daughter just finished her Rad Tech training in Tampa, FL. We have lived all over the country over the almost-31 years we have been married - NC, MA, FL, TN, AZ, LA, but KY has been home for the last 18 years. Mark retired from college teaching years ago and continues to run a music publishing business and is a church choir director. I taught music in the school system for several years and then began teaching violin. I now run a violin studio in Hopkinsville, KY, along with working for the publishing company. Looking forward to seeing former classmates at the reunion in September!

We have seven grandkids and one on the way in June 09....another baby girl!

Tom Hundley Class of 74

This is Tom Hundley from the class of 1974. I am living in the state of FL after having traveled around a bit after graduation from Auburn University. I worked in Chattanooga for awhile, Delaware for a few years, about 10 years in Watkinesville Ga which is just next to Athens Ga, Florence South Carolina and now Lake City FL. I hope to retire here some day unless some tropical island can be worked into the mix.

I have been married now for 27 years to Elaine Runyan. She currently works for a CPA firm and is happy in her job. I have one son Thomas who is 25 and lives in the same town.

I have stayed in the food business since graduating from work and thankfully have a job at least right now. The company I work for right now is in the middle of Chapter 11. The departments I was in charge of have been shut down probably for the next year or so until market conditions improve and I am currently learning a new job. I have a couple of shifts of Price and Weigh departments, one packing crew on second and two shift of shipping I am responsible for now. I am currently trying to learn how the automated robot warehouse works and the two computer systems that control it as well as a couple of others new for me at least, computer systems running on SAP. At the same time I am relearning the product codes and all the team members.

I took up diving while living in Fl and its become my main hobby. I went from an OW student up to Divemaster and since then have gone towards technical diving. I took up cave diving training to get experience in overhead for wreck diving. However the wrecks are a good distance from the part of FL that I live in and I do not get to them often. I fell in love with Cave Diving and have gone through four levels of training for it and many other courses. I am Vice President of The Cave Diving Museum and Library and through the friendship of the other board members have gotten to do dives very few people have ever done. Some of the places have had less people in them than have landed on the moon, I had to learn sidemount diving to be able to do some of these dives and if not for being friends with some of the explorers I would not have had the chance to dive there. Last year I got invited to be a support diver forWeeki Wachee Springs 2008 and hopefully 2009 project. Its the deepest cave system in Fl at over 400 ft deep and just being on the support team is an honor. I will not be one of the primary explorers as it's going to be Closed Circuit divers doing the dives due to the long decompression times. Some of these dives will last over 24 hours. I did get a tour down to 170 into a flow close to that of a fire hydrant. 115 cubic feet per second of water flows at one point through an opening less than three feet around. It was extremely difficult to pull into that flow without having gear ripped off your body and regulators free flowing. How the explorers do their deco stops in that flow is nothing short of amazing to me. I have encluded a link to a video of the 2007 exploration. Keep in mind once int the main tunnel that only a small part of it is being lite up with a light called a death ray which puts out over 1000 watts and it only lights up a small portion of the cave.

I also enjoy taking photos above and below the water and post to Flickr and Facebook. I have started a FaceBook page for the class of 1974 and everyone is welcome to post in it if you like. I really need folks with photos posting them or letting me have some permission to use some.

Steve Wright, Class of 1978

I went into the army in my junior year of high school and when I returned home I began my construction career. I was a plasterer for 30 years and it took its toll on my body. Three shoulder surgeries,and now looking at neck and back surgery. I fought my drug and alcohol demons and made it,thank God. I now live in Soddy Daisy and have a 25 year old daughter that has endured three kidney transplants, she and my ex-wife reside in Oregon.

I had to leave Chattanooga for Florida or I was going to die a slow death on drugs, alcohol, or daredevil activities, in the middle of my 11th grade (1975). I moved in with my father who straighten me out just a little bit and then I went into the navy because I didn't want to study anymore.

The first thing I did was study about the navy, electricity, batteries, motors, and so much more I would waste a whole day trying to explain all that I had to learn. After the navy I moved back in with Dad but then quickly left for Tampa Bay, Fl.

I met my wife there and finished tech school on Electronics. Nortel offered me a job in Raleigh, NC and gave me $1000.00 to move in 12 days. We stayed in Raleigh for 12 years. I became an instructor for engineers on how to use tools to order telephone equipment. Lot's of studying there and that position allowed me to travel Canada the US and 1 stop in Austrailia. I love to study now baby!

Nortel then asked me to move to Richardson, TX and they would pay for everything, and I mean everything. We've been here 9 years. I was let go by Nortel and had to drive a truck, but I have since been rehired by Nortel and things are going just fine.

After writing all this I realized that I was taking all the credit for all the things that have happened to me. Believe me it was God who did everything not me, I was just able to enjoy them as he has continued to bless my life with so many things. I just wished I would have studied more. hee, hee.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my family. Deena, Ashley, Jacob, and everyone should remember my mom Mrs. Smith from JB Jr. High.

Greg Clark and Wendy Hays Class of 1978

Hi, I'm Wendy Hays and I graduated in 1978. Since high school, I have spent a lot of time outside of Chattanooga traveling in the Northeast and the Midwest. I have my BSN in nursing which I got from Indiana University and have worked in surgery for almost 20 years. I love every minute of it. This year I married one of the nicest guys in the world that I went to school with from 2nd grade thru 12...Greg Clark. You remember... our class President. And yes girls, he still is the nicest and most handsome guy around. He is an engineer with TVA. We love to ride motorcycles together. Every weekend you will find us in the woods riding Trials bikes, or doing a little off road biking. We even like to do some street riding. Our Honeymoon was spent in Colorado riding off road trails. I have a daughter Caitlin who is a Senior in high school this year. She just competed in the American Teen Pageant and placed in the top 6. Of course I think she should have won...thats what Mom's always think. This year will be hectic with her applying to colleges and graduating from high school.

Greg Clark went to Georgia Tech after high school, earning a degree in Engineering. He has spent most of his life in Chattanooga on a motorcycle or in his jeep (yes, virtually the same one he had in high school). We had to medicate him when our families joined. He had never been married, and I had an 18 year old daughter, one bird, and a curious dog, not to even begin to mention moving all of our stuff into his perfectly spotless house. We think he will eventually adjust to our crazy life. We certainly get to laugh at each other a lot.

Want to say 'Hi' to all of my classmates and hope some remember me, I sure miss home! Moved to Ft Lauderdale shortly after graduation with my parents, didn't really want to move away then but life has been good. I am a cop here in Ft. Lauderdale for 24 years and soon to be retiring. Received my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University and have worked in the motor unit, marine unit, dive rescue, swat, and road patrol. I have had a great career and really understand the meaning of life. I am an avid mountain biker and love to fish the beautiful Atlantic Ocean in my boat. Married to my wife Micha Kim and have a 25 year old son , Austin Lee and a 24 year old daughter, Ashley Erin. My wife is Korean and very beautiful. (hey shes - 10 years younger than me..... keeps me young ya know). When I retire, I plan to move back home to the Harrison Bay / Ooltewah area. I visit there yearly anyway to see my sister Rhonda and my mom who lives in Cleveland.

Hope to make it for the next reunion, would love to see all. My old football pals, track stars, and a certain cheerleader that I once knew. I have great memories of those days and thank you all for enriching my life. Rhonda keeps me updated with vague news about everybody. I have read some of the blogs and have seen some of the photos and encourage all to take part in sharing their lives on the site. Donella, thanks for the memories.

I have a sweet 10 year old golden retriever, named Boomer. I am an Assistant Vice President/ Regional SunTrust and Work Manager for SunTrust Bank. My territory covers all of Chattanooga, North Georgia and a small area in Alabama. Like everyone else that works for Corporate America, I stay busy!

I love giving back to this great community! I currently serve as a board of director of Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association;Kids on the Block;Women's Leadership Institute and the Animal Care Trust. I formerly served on the board of FOCAS (Friends of Chattanooga Animal Services). We helped raise the funds to build Chattanooga's very first dog park....The Chattanooga Chew Chew Canine Park. In 1999 I was chosen as a Chattanooga Woman of Distinction for all of my community involvement.

Tim Bryan Class of 79!

How time flies when you’re having fun I guess… anyway, those days back in the 70’s were some of the best. Back when we had little more to think about than keeping up with our friends at school, getting our homework done, waiting for the next Friday night football game, washing our cars, and staring at the calendar and wishing that Summer would come soon. I guess that most of you experienced the fact that life got a little more complicated after we all graduated from high school. Hopefully many of you have been able to enjoy the time since the 70’s and make the most out of each day and passing year. As for me, after I graduated in 1979, I went on to the University of Tennessee and spent the next several years in Knoxville and graduated from the School of Architecture in 1985. What a great time that was too, but I won’t go into that here. Immediately after graduation from college, I landed a job in Atlanta working with a firm that specialized in apartment design. My real love was always for designing homes, so within a few months I spotted another job offering in an Atlanta newspaper that was exactly the type of firm that I wanted to work for. Speeding things up a bit here, I got the job and spent the next 8 years there. I learned so much about home design from my mentors where I worked that that knowledge follows me in my work each and every day. After 8 years at that residential architectural firm, I nervously left my comfortable job, to start out on my own. I spent a few years designing homes for a builder for his spec and custom homes. Later, in 1996, I decided to officially start my own company designing houses. I brought together some of my architect friends and we organized into Bryan, Larson, Grace & Contreras, LLC. Since the firm opened its doors, we have had a few changes. Two of my business partners left to go down another path. Now we are renamed Bryan & Contreras, LLC. We are located in Alpharetta, Georgia, just north of Atlanta. I am doing what I really love and that is designing custom homes for individual clients. I estimate that I have designed at least 500 homes for people since I started down this path after high school and college. A lot of my work has appeared in “Southern Living” magazine, along with quite a few other publications and newspapers. One home that I designed is built close to Chattanooga and is a showhouse that is open to the public every day. It is built inside the Carpets of Dalton showroom in Dalton, Georgia. I have sold stock plans that we have to clients in and around Chattanooga so I know that some of my homes are built there too. Every day is a new challenge at the office and the home design business never gets boring. I get to design the dream homes of my clients. I really love my work. It’s what I wanted to do since I was at Central High School in the 70’s…as some of you may remember that knew me and saw me drawing houses even back then! On my personal side, I have never married. I am incredibly happy with the life that I have and with the friends that I have around me. I live in a home that I designed for myself on 2 acres in Alpharetta, Georgia. I completed my home a couple of years ago and am still getting settled into my own dream home. I have 2 dogs that I rescued from an animal shelter. The dogs have a custom-designed room just for them, with murals that I painted on the walls and their own custom indoor dog hotel. The dogs go with me to work every day. I designed my home around entertaining and that’s exactly what I like to do. I have a boat on Lake Lanier where I spend weekends out on the lake throughout the year. Some of my favorite places that I have traveled outside the USA are the Canadian Rockies, the Caribbean, and Mexico. I have dog-sledded in minus-zero temperatures in Canada and walked along the southern-most tip of the Baja peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It has been a fantastic journey through life so far. There have been ups and downs, but that’s normal. Life is what you make of it and sometimes you only get that chance to do things once, so I enjoy each and every day! What a terrific thing the internet is and it’s something that we could not even have dreamed about back in the 70’s. Thanks for letting me share a part of my life and thanks for sharing all your other stories here. I can’t wait for more from our 70’s connection of classmates from Central High School…what a time it was!

Hello to all my former classmates. I am so excited about this website. I have often wondered about the people I graduated with. I have even tried to help find some of them for our class reunions.

I am currently married and have one son named Chip, age 12. I live in the Middle Valley area and I have lived in Chattanooga or the surrounding area all my life. I work in the Eastgate area. I am an Administrative Assistant for an insurance company. I have been attending Chattanooga State to get my associates in Office Administration.

I am looking forward to attending the centennial celebration in Sept. 2007. I hope to see a lot of my classmates from the 70's.

I am sending along a couple of pictures of my brother Barry Borden. He attended Central for several years and would be class of 71 or 72, I think. He was very close to the band director, Mr. Dugan, and keeps in touch with him. Most people I see from school days ask me about him because of his musical career. He is currently the drummer for the Marshall Tucker Band and has played with several others over the years such as Mothers Finest, Molly Hatchett, and The Outlaws. He lives in Douglasville, GA with wife Patty and step daughter Stephanie.

I live in Harrison with my husband, not far from the old school. My husband, Emmitt, went to Central but we did not know each other way back then, we just met a few years ago. We spend our free time boating, riding his Harley and camping.

My son is 32 years old (yikes!) and lives locally, running his internet book sales business.

I have been a computer programmer for 26 years, but was recently replaced at UnumProvident by cheap Indian offshore workers. I have worked directly and under contract over the years at Hamilton County, Salem Carpet, TVA, Dixie Yarns, Blue Cross Blue Shield and lastly UnumProvident.

I have been involved in showing horses over the years as well, but have given this up in the past couple of years because although I love it, it can be very expensive. I won several Tennessee Quarter Horse Association high point titles in 2001 and 2002.

Robin Rozzell - 1974-1977

I married Tim Ledbetter who went to Tyner. When we first got married,
we lived in Atlanta for a very short time, but then moved back to
Chattanooga. We live in Red Bank and have been in this community since
our kids were very young. We have three boys, Josh, Jason and Jake.
Josh is 24 and married Laura Cooper in 2004. They had gone to school
together since 1st grade! So they knew each other pretty well! They
both graduated from Red Bank HS and live in Ooltewah. Jason will be 23
in October, and he just married Katie Davis 6/3/06. They both graduated
from Red Bank HS and live in Red Bank not too far from us. I don't know
how good that is for them, but we love them being close! Jake is our
youngest, and he will be 17 in October. He is at Red Bank also, and is
a junior. God blessed me with a wonderful man for a husband, three
great boys, and my daughter-in-laws are too precious! It's fun having
daughters! I had forgotten all about girl stuff before our daughters
came into the picture!! I also was fortunate to have two great parents,
although both of them have now passed away. I miss them dearly. But
anyway, I feel very blessed. Anything else is just gravy. We have had
lots of fun. Our boys all played sports, and their childhoods were
filled with baseball, soccer, and football, and lots of fun memories.
Jake is still keeping us busy with football and baseball. We love it.
We are members of Red Bank Baptist Church, and it is a big part of our
lives. Tim is a sales rep at Southeast Rubber and Safety, and I have
worked at or been affiliated with Johnston Southern Company since 1988,
working in human resources/accounting. Thank you, Donella, for starting
the blog! It's nice to hear about everyone, and I wish everyone the
best. I have lots of fond memories of friends and fun times at CHS.

I have two great kids (young adults) Nathan age 21, 2nd degree Black Belt and going to school to become a nurse (want's to join the Navy) and Mary 18, recent high school graduate and starts college in October. Mary is no push over either, she is a Black Belt as well.

Why wait for reunions, in anyone wants to meet and you are in the tri-state area we can meet at Night Fall in Chattanooga, and many other functions that happen nearby. Yes, and if you remember me, I'm still PG!

I have had a pretty good life. After high school I attended college for about 1 1/2 years and then I then moved to Tampa, Florida and lived there for about 11 years. I have two wonderful daughters and they are 24 & 21. I moved back to Chattanooga and have been back here since. I now have two beautiful grandchildren, Tyler (4) and Taylor (3), a boy and girl which play a large part in my life. I am attending school again, to get my RN degree. Life has been good to me.

School! Those were the days......There is only one thing I would really change about school and that would be the 11th grade. Does anyone remember Coach Farmer? Boy, I sure spent alot of time in his office in trouble. I do miss some of my friends from school...one in particular, we were in the same homeroom for many years.

I have worked in the Human Resouces area most of my life. Started off as an assistant and worked my way up to management. I am now attending school at Chattanooga State in the Nursing program and working full-time. Looking forward to graduating and to start working at a rewarding job.

I live in Richmond Virginia, am happily married to my husband Bob for the past 27 years. We have two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Samantha and three extremely spoiled dogs.

I am a licensed grief counselor and President/Co-founder of the Caring Voice Coalition, Inc. (CVC) a national non-profit organization based in Richmond, Virginia. The CVC is an organization that provides free patient services and financial assistance to persons suffering from rare, chronic illnesses.

I moved away from the Chattanooga area shortly after graduating high school but still enjoy visiting my family that remains there. I’ll always feel that my “real” home is in Harrison, Tennessee.

Donella, I’ve enjoyed reading about everyone and seeing the direction that their life has taken. I have so many wonderful memories of my years while at Central High and I will always cherish each one of them. Thank you for starting this blog.

Hi everyone! It is great to re-connect after all these years! I moved from Chattanooga in 1980 and have lived in Jacksonville, FL for the last 26 years. All of my family lives here as well. I am a single mom with a beautiful teenage daughter who is a strait-A student and junior olympic swimmer. I have a wonderful job with the YMCA of Florida's First Coast and my daughter and I are very active in our church. I enjoyed attending our 20th class reunion in 1996 and had hoped to attend our 30th class reunion this summer but was unable to do so. It is my hope that as many of us as possible can plan to attend Central's 100th celebration in 2007. It would be great to visit with each other! I have been married to Rhonda Braley (Central class of '76) for 26 years and still live in Harrison. We built a house on her Grandfather's farm and now have 7+ acres with a golden retriever and two horses.

We have two beautiful girls...Dana 19 yrs. old who plays softball for Chattanooga State and is working towards a degree in teaching/coaching. Halei is 15 yrs. old and goes to Ooltewah High School. She also plays softball and is an awesome volleyball player. We love to watch the girls play!

I have been a salesman for Lookout Beverages (Now Horizon Wine & Spirits) for the past 24 years and feel it has been the best experience anyone could ever want in a career.

Rhonda & I have been to Hawaii, San Francisco (twice), Montreal, Canada, San Antonio, San Diego, Jamaica, Aruba, Costa Rica, Las Vegas, and the best trip was Germany.

We have had a great life together and raised two fantastic girls since graduating Central. I am now wanting to get another motorcycle to start riding a little now that the girls are drifting in their own directions because we used to have a blast doing that too!

I married Bobby Vinson in August of 1977, his jobs in the restaurant business took us all over the southeast but we finally settled in East Tennessee so our kids could grow up close to our family. Bobby and I have five children and our oldest daughter Jenny, 26, is a Registered Nurse. She married Matt and they have one precious child, Madeline, she is our only grandchild and the joy of our lives. Our second daughter Katie, 24, is a Certified Pharmacy Tech at our local drug store.

When our girls were in high school, I started suffering from P.E.N.S.(pre-empty nest syndrome) Ha! So eight years ago Bobby and I decided to adopt a sibling group of three: Anna, Ashley, and Philip, who are all attending a Christian high school and doing very well.

With the sudden passing of my father in January, this year has been very difficult for all of the Fentresses and the Vinsons but "...we know that ALL things work for good to those who love the Lord." Romans 8:28. I would love the chance to hear from my friends that I have lost touch with over these 29+ years, especially those that were in my wedding. I look forward to catching up!

I was born in New Jersey and in 1971 my family relocated to Chattanooga, TN where I did most of my growing up. While in that area I also lived some in Georgia and Alabama. I now make my home in a small town in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, located in Virginia.

I am a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church in Chattanooga where I teach S.S. and visit the hospitals and rest homes in our area every week spreading the GOSPEL OF CHRIST.

I have always given more than 100% effort in all that has been required of me believing that if I make much of Christ he will be faithful to make much of me in HIS work.

Robert Bonine 1969-1972

I have been writing songs, for several years some of which you'd probably recognize. I recently moved from Nashville to Atlanta, and am performing on small stages at music events, and doing the coffee house circuit.

There are too many milestones to mention. After graduating from Central, I went to work as a studio bass player, to support myself through college. I luckily ended up playing session work for a person that became a well known entertainer, and was introduced to others. I had written a couple of songs, and the entertainer introduced me to a publisher that granted me my first contract. My music has been recorded by some great entertainers, and because of a series of acquisitions, I've worked for a major publisher for several years. You'd recognize some of my songs.. Surprised? New deanery Youth Ministry coordinator inspired by 'watching kids grow in faith'

New Chattanooga Deanery Youth Ministry coordinator Donna Jones said she hopes to bring in priests and those in adult ministries within parishes to work with young people “so we can come together as one church.”

“I want to get on the same page because it’s not youth ministry just for youth ministry,” she said. “It should be religion teachers, priests, the Knights, and the women’s groups—everyone should come together as one for youth ministry. Kids today aren’t the church tomorrow; they’re the church today because they have so many great ideas.”

Mrs. Jones, the youth minister and director of religious education at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in South Pittsburg, succeeds Wendy Ransom as the deanery coordinator.

She was appointed coordinator in time to oversee a major Chattanooga Deanery youth endeavor: the God Camps held each summer at Harrison Bay State Park. Although her coordinator role puts in her charge mainly of middle and high school youth ministry in the deanery’s 12 parishes, Mrs. Jones said wishes she could do more with fifth- and sixth-graders, the youngest age group represented at the summer camps.

“They’re like a breath of fresh air,” she said. “They love to learn.”

She introduced her deanery’s members of the Diocesan Youth Ministry Advisory Council (DYMAC) at last month’s diocesan Youth Mass. This year’s DYMAC members are all new to the council. Mrs. Jones said she was “impressed how they bonded so well in our training day. All the kids have such great ideas for this year.”

Mrs. Jones, a former member of St. Jude Parish in Chattanooga, lives in Jasper. She is widowed with two sons, Adam, 22, and Dale, 19. Both attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

In her more than 10 years in youth ministry, she said she’s found that “watching kids grow in their faith gives me inspiration.”

“They don’t bring the politics and all that stuff that working with adults would usually bring. They’ve got great ideas, and if we just help them follow through on those ideas, we’ll have a much better world than we have today.”

Stephen Willie 1973-1977

After High School I enlisted in the Air National Guard at Lovell Field and later moved to Newport, KY where I continued to serve with a combat group in communications. Worked many different jobs in communications electronics before surrendering to a genuine call to serve in Christian Ministry. I went on to college where I redeived a BA in Church Ministries with an emphasis in Music. I also met my wife there who bore me a beautiful daughter. After serving as a Music and Youth Director in various churches I turned to a new calling of my Lord to Pastor a church in NC. I'll be 47 this weekend and I haven't heard from anyone since I left highschool. I did not graduate with my class but attained a GED in order to enter the military. But my life is living proof that Jesus cares for even the small people.

Richard Murray 1974 - 1977

So, how do you cover the last 30 years. I have lived in or around Chattanooga for most of those years. I did spend three years in Michigan after two years at Cleveland State. But, in the last 15 years I have been spending time trying to break into the college coaching ranks. I spent the past two years as the head softball coach at Hiwassee College. That was after fifteen years working in the Cleveland State Athletic Dept. I started with the men's basketball team in the early '90s as an assitant to a friend of mine. After he resigned to go back as an assistant himself at a four year school I became the school's sports information director. Along the way I helped with the softball and women's basketball program, but mostly behind the scenes. That brought us to two years ago when my friend took the men's basketball head coaching job at Hiwassee College and he asked if I would come as his assitant and I accepted. Then they offered me the softball coach's position and both years were a struggle, but I got through and had a positive recruiting class when I got the news that they weren't renewing my contract. You can't get too devastated when they only paid me $4600 for the entire year. I do regret never getting to coach the girls I signed, but that is the nature of college coaching. Now, I am back in Cleveland. I am working in the service industry to pay the bills and I have returned to Cleveland State as the sports information director. More to come later.

Rhonda Lillard 1979

Unfortunately, I did not graduate with my classmates due to a sudden
tragedy in our family, I relocated and then returned for a short time
to attend Chattanooga State. Went to work for Minolta then I
relocated to South Georgia where I went to work for FMC Heavy
Equipment. I traveled all over and my husband came to work there shortly
after I did and we started dating after we went on a company cruise. I
moved back to Chattanooga for a short time and then accepted my
husbands proposal and moved back to Savannah and got married. My
husband worked for Allen Test Products in which we ran the business out
of our home. We bought into a franchise and found out after 5 years
they weren't going to sell us the property as promised so we found a
piece of commercial land, found a contractor and put our dream into
action. That was nearly 12 years ago and we've been going strong ever since. We have 3 wonderful children that I am very proud of and my son has followed in Dad's footsteps for the most part, he and his very intelligent wife are doing very well. My two daughters are my best
friends and they live close to me.

We have 3 beautiful grandchildren with a grandson due in December.
Jesus is my hero! I really never got to say Goodbye to some of my
classmates and friends so maybe this is the chance to say hello again.
I hope to see some post from them or even make new friends. My husband
and I have worked together side by side since before we married, most
everyone says that they can not believe we can do that. I am proud
that we have been a very close knit family and with God's blessing I
pray it will always be that way.

Hey guys! This is such an awesome website and I'm so excited that Donella had the idea for it and better yet, the knowledge of how to accomplish it!

I married Garnett (a/k/a "Scooter") Smith from Fort Oglethorpe - Lakeview Class of 74. We moved away from Chattanooga in 1983 and have had several moves since that time. The first to Columbia, SC, then Talledega, AL. Next to Gastonia, NC and then to Danville, VA. We moved back to Gastonia 13 years ago and have been here ever since. It was very difficult leaving family and friends on the first move, but the others were never quite as hard. Although we have been blessed with having wonderful friends that we still see from each place we have lived, Chattanooga will always be home to us! The fact that practically all of our families are still in the area means we get back as often as we can. It certainly makes travel during the holidays easier when both families are in the same location!!! We have spent every Christmas in TN since we moved away!

After my dad passed away in 1976, my mother opened "Jody's Junction" - a dress shop on Highway 58. She retired in 1995 and after 40 years has just recently moved from Lake Shore Hills to the big city of Chickamauga, GA to be closer to my sister, Melody - CHS class of 73.

We have two amazing daughters. Lindsey was 19 in July. A sophmore in college, she is studying nursing and working part time at an Assisted Living Center and also at our church as a youth intern. Our other daughter, Bailey, will be 16 next Tuesday October 3rd! I'm not quite sure Garnett and I are ready for our youngest to start dating and driving yet, but she certainly is!!! She is a sophomore at Ashbrook High School and loves it. Lindsey and Bailey are as different as night and day - one short, one tall; one brunette, one blonde; one quiet, one that talks non stop; one who could care less about the latest fashion; and one that lives to shop!!! But one thing they both have in common, they are awesome girls and we couldn't have been blessed with any better!

We are members of a wonderful church, Bethlehem Baptist, and are all actively involved in many different ministries there. Bethlehem has recently bought 76 acres of land and is in the process of one day building an awesome campus on it! Hopefully one large enough that we will never have to relocate again!

Garnett works at The Robert Allen Group in Gaffney, SC as Director of Quality Assurance and I work with McMahan @ Associates,(www.mcmahanandassociates.com )a financial planning firm in Gastonia. I received my securities licenses in 1985 and obtained my CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation in 2002 from Queen's College in Charlotte, NC. My office is 5 minutes from home so I love the commute, and have become spoiled with coming home for lunch most every day!

I'm really looking forward to our 30th reunion next year because I've heard they are going to try and schedule it around the activities for the 100th anniversary of Central. It will be great to catch up with many friends from the "good ole days"! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up with many of my classmates other than my sister and my cousins - the Ashley's - Mike (Class of 72), Tim (Class of 75) & Patti (Class of 77) whom I see on a regular basis.

Thanks again Donella. I really am enjoying the updates on everyone! And lets all remember to help Donella spread the word about the 70's blog!

It is Sunday, March 18, 2007 as I write this, and I can't believe that Rusty and I have been out of high school for almost 30 years! So much has happened since then. . .

Rusty and I were married on September 20, 1980 and we have two wonderful children. Our daughter, Lauren, is 22 and our son, Kevin, is 19. Rusty has been employed with Miller Industries for about 25 years. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, I have entered the work force as an interpreter for the deaf with the Hamilton County School system. We've stayed in the Highway 58 area and currently live in Harrison.

We were always very involved in our children's lives and thoroughly enjoyed helping out with little league, marching band, football, and their church and school activities. Since they've both graduated now (from Central!), it has been a big adjustment for us. We didn't know what we were going to do with ourselves after attending eight straight years worth of Central's Friday night football games, but we're adjusting.

In addition to my family and my job, I stay busy with various hobbies and interests. For the past few years, I have served as Vice-President of the Hamilton County Genealogical Society, and I am also involved with the Central High Alumni Association as Communications Director. The Alumni Association is busily planning to celebrate Central's 100th birthday this year, and I hope to see you all at some of our events!

Gene Talley 1971-1974

I have been actively planning along with Barry White, Sandra Perry Stuermer and Kathy Farmer Ratz on each 5th anniversary of our graduation from Central. I have been living mostly in the Chattanooga area since I graduated from high school and also own a condo in Freeport Bahamas which was destroyed by last year's hurricane but in the process of being rebuilt.

Changed my major between HS graduation and the fall of ’74, I decided that I wanted to major in mechanical engineering at TTU. The courses were a struggle since I did not take physics, chemistry or calculus in high school but I managed to graduate and now work at Arnold AFB in middle TN. This is a great place to work since we test military and commercial aircraft engines or components in our test cells or wind tunnel. I am a civilian employee but benefit from training offsite which has led me to Seattle and Washington DC for training classes. I have worked at Arnold for nine years and God has blessed me with safe travel between my home in Hixson and my job of which the round trip commute is 160 miles.

This work falls in line with one of my hobbies as a private pilot and I earned my pilot’s license in June of ’79.

I am blessed with a daughter and son - my daughter is a sophomore in college and my son is a freshman in college and both attend school in Chattanooga.

Central Baptist Church of Hixson is where I attend and have been a member of since 1984. I was ordained as a deacon in August of 2005.

In Remembrance of Linda Lillard

I am posting this in remembrance of my sister Linda S. Lillard. After she graduated, she joined the Army as a Medical Nurse. When she finished she went to work at an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist as his assistant. She was planning to me married and had announced her engagement and was starting to plan the wedding. She was killed in an automobilie accident in July of 1976 at age 20. She was in the chorus and sang solo, "I Don't Know How To Love Him" by Helen Reddy. She played in the "Pirates of Penzants" at the Little Theater. She had a beautiful voice and is greatly missed. I just wanted to post this in remembrance. Thank you, Rhonda
